Figure Skating.
As of today February 10, 2014 no country has won the gold medal in the men's 1000 meter speed skating as the event has not yet taken place. This event will begin on February 11, 2014 at the Sochi Winter Olympics.

The winter Olympic started today the 28th of July 2012.

Sports that were competed at the first Winter Olympics (1924) that are still being competed today (2010) are bobsleigh, figure skating, ice hockey, ski jumping, speed skating, nordic combined, and cross country skiing. Curling was also competed at the 1924 Winter Olympics but did not return until the 1998 Winter Olympics.
As of today, February 28th, 2010, it is now Canada. The previous owner of the title for the most golds from one country in a Winter Olympics was Russia. It is now Canada with 14 Golds!!
The closing ceremony takes place today (25th February 2018).
Instead of holding both Olympics in the same year, starting in 1994 the Winter and Summer Olympics are now held two years apart. The next Winter Olympics will be held in 2010 and the next Summer Olympics will be held in 2012.
The 1900 Summer Olympics, today officially known as the Games of the II Olympiad, was an international multi-sport event which was celebrated in 1900 in Paris, France.
On August 25, 1960, Rome hosted the 17th annual summer Olympics.
Today you mainly see them on the end credits of TV and Films, in books (showing the copyright), and on buildings (indicating the year built). Many sporting events use roman numerals to designate the event. (e.g. XXI Winter Olympics or Super Bowl XLIV).
