As a ski instructor at a large resort it all depends. Did you have fun? Are you safe? What did you learn? Did you ever even consider leaving? Were you eager to hear what they had to say? Believe it or not, most ski instructors make minimum wage and need those tips. Skiing is an expensive sport, even new gloves for the instructor can cost 60+ dollars. That could take about a full 8 hour day to make. Plus they would have to skip lunch. But if you enjoyed the lesson, or if your kid did, than give about 50% of the lesson cost. So even though for you the lesson cost 50 dollars for an hour. The instructor gets about 7 dollars of that. And at a large resort the instructor is only paid when teaching, so they might be there all day and only teach one lesson and make 7$. If you are going to comeback. Request a private lesson with that instructor. It usually has a bonus for the instructor.

∙ 13y agoDepends on the mountain and what level skier you are. For example a private lesson in Breckenridge, Colorado, is $120. Ski areas vary in price but a common price for a group lesson is around $60-$80 for a full day and $40-$50 for half day
