Not really, after all, you are never really touching your toes while swimming. Although, if you are joining a swim team you might practice flexibility in dryland. Evan then you will not need to have a whole lot of flexibility.

It's not that important, but it can help. Try touching your toes, with your knees slightly bent or a forward roll that's what you do in swimming. It's more balance, strength, stamina and body control

it stretches the muscles in your body so you become more flexible and have flexibility because the water makes them relax and they aren't being forced to be used, so they stretch out.
