Italian Achille Varzi won the 1933 Monaco Grand Prix, driving a Bugatti Type 51.
The race turned into a battle between Varzi and Tazio Nuvolari driving an Alfa Romeo 8C Monza; they exchanged leads during to whole race, stirring the crowd to excitement to the very end.
There was no Monaco Grand Prix in the year 1938. Though racing in the Monaco Track started as early as 1929, there were no races in the track between 1938 to 1947. F1 races were started only in the year 1950 and the track has been an integral part of the yearly Formula One season.
If you are on about the 1958 Formula 1 Monaco GP then it was Maurice Trintignant. Luigi Musso came in second and Peter Collins came in 3rd.
The first F1 Monaco GP was in 1950. It was won by Jual Manuel Fangio.
