Sure, it would be much better for the people watching it.... but lets not forget who actually has money involved.

The truth is, the sponsors are what is driving the Super Bowl. Advertisers spend millions of dollars for 30 second advertisments. The advertisers want as many people to see the ads AND REMEMBER the ads as possible. If the Super Bowl was on a Saturday evening, most football fans would be at bars or house parties getting their drunk on. By keeping the Super Bowl on a Sunday, early evening, it ensures that most people will try to stay realitivly sober because they have work in the morning. It also ensures that it isn't just a sausage fest of drunken arm chair quarterbacks. By having it on a Sunday, entire families are more likely to watch.

If you were going to spend $3,000,000 for a 30 second comercial, who would you rather be watching it? A bunch of drunk men in a bar, or families of semi-sober people on their couch in the living room?

The TV networks don't care what's convienient to you... they know you are going to tune in to watch the Super Bowl anyways... its the most watched program on TV. What the do care about is making sure the sponsors are happy, and that means making sure you stay sober enough to remember the comercials come Monday morning.

Also, one more point: Holding the Super Bowl on Saturday would be a disgrace to the history of football. It's a Sunday sport.

College Football is on Saturday. Having them on two different days keeps them from losing viewers to one another. Many people like to watch both and can't if they are on at the same time. This way people can watch college football on Saturday and professional football on Sunday and the NFL and NCAA get the most possible viewers.

It is on Sunday because it is a tradition. It is never more fun on Saturday because you get use to watching football on Sunday during the regular season. Some people think it would be better on Saturday because you have tomorrow off, but who cares? Monday is going to come whether you like it or not. Beside the NFL does not care if it is more enjoyable to you; they want to make money.

.....................................this is my answer to this question. I know that the NFL wants to make money, so having the superbowl on Saturday would let other people that otherwise would not get to see the superbowl on Sunday, see the superbowl and be able to enjoy it. Those of us that go to church and like to watch football would love to see it on Saturday. But I would not want to sound selfish by saying or asking the NFL to change just for church going people. Whatever the franchise looks at as best for the industry, that is what it needs to do.

It is on a Sunday because in the christian religion it says that Sunday is a time of rest, so they have the game on a Sunday because people mostly finish there work on Saturday, so they rest on Sunday and more people watch.

There was a time when the Super Bowl was played on Sunday afternoons, but today it is all about television ratings and advertising . The networks and their advertisers prefer to have the Super Bowl played as close to prime time as possible to ensure maximum television viewing.

Money.

Saturday is one more day to promote the game and cash in. They don't care about the fans.
