Soccer Position for runnersThe position in soccer that has the most running is typically the halfback position OR forward position depending on your team's offensive play calling. The halfback position runs up field to contribute to the offense by passing and shooting on goal AND also runs back behind the midfield to defend. The forward position usually stays up past the midfield position and is more of an offensive position and doesn't come back to defend.

>> Centre midfields both attacking and defensive run the most. Next are fullbacks if they actively participate in attack as well followed closely by the left and right wingers.

The Cornerback, Running Back, and Wide Receiver positions all require great speed, or do they? As a Running Back, if you are tough to bring down and have average speed you should do fine. As a Wide Receiver, if you have serious hands like Larry Fitzgerald and have average speed than you will also do fine. As a Cornerback, speed is required. The Cornerback needs to be able to keep up with the fastest of Wide Receiver's The answer is Cornerback. Corner backs usually have help deep, so quickness is more important than great speed. If a corner back can stay with a receiver for 20 yards down-field, or across the field , he's using his quickness to do that.

probably wide receiver because they are in charge of catching a throw from the quarterback and running with it to try and get a touchdown so yeah they have to be really fast.

like a New England Patriots' wide receiver wes welker

watch him sometime. that's about how fast a wide receiver should be

The fastest football players have historically been wide receiver (Bob Hayes), running back (Bo Jackson), and cornerback ( Darrell Green). That is where most of your speed is needed on the field to make big plays.
