When you have the Basketball and you run or walk more then one step without bouncing it

Travelling is taking two consecutive steps with different feet without dribbling the ball, unless the ball is released after the second step and before the third step occurs. I arrive at this conclusion not by the rule book, but by watching Basketball on TV.

Traveling in any level of basketball is when the player with the ball takes two step without dribbling the ball. Once a player stops dribbling they can only move on foot and the other foot, the pivot foot must remain on the floor, if it moves the refs will then call a traveling violation.

Three steps without dribbles, the ball's turned over.

You can pivit, though. After you use your dribble, you can keep one foot on the ground and move the other. You cannot dribble again, but you can pass or shoot. If you pass and get it back, you can dribble again.
