A soccer game has 90 minutes of playing time, divided into two 45-minute halves with a short break between them. Youth leagues often play shorter games (and on smaller fields). Also, the referee may add time to the end of one or both halves of play in order to compensate for time lost due to injuries, timewasting, and other reasons. Finally, a game may be extended for extra time or kicks from the mark to break a tie, or be shortened due to weather or unsafe conditions.
