Pat Summitt University of Tennessee Woman's Basketball coach with 952 wins. She passed Dean Smith in 2004-2005 season when she got her 880th win. As of March 2007 Bobby Knight was in second with 890 wins.

Pat Summitt has been the head women's basketball coach at Tennessee since 1974. Her overall college coaching record is 953-180 (as of Dec-02-2007). Her first seven years (175-48) were under the aegis of the AIWA, not the NCAA. Her NCAA record is 778-132. Bobby Knight's overall NCAA coaching record is 895-363 (Dec 02-2007). There may be someone that is higher, but Bill Self of Kansas is currently at 83.5% (269-53) with a Big XII conference record of 83.8% (124-24) and a lifetime record of 75.1% (476-158) across four different schools and has never had less than a 50% record at a school.

In his nine seasons at Kansas, he has more conference championships (8) than losses at home (7), has never failed to make the NCAA tournament, has made the Sweet-16 67% of those seasons (6/9), the Elite-8 56% of those seasons (5/9), has won 2 final four games to advance to the Championship twice, winning one of them. Since he first took a team to the NCAA tournament in the 1998-1999 season (with Tulsa), he has never failed to take a team to the NCAA tournament (14 year streak as of now).
