A player has four eligible years to play. if a player does not play at all the whole year then he is redshirted which means he does not play that year but does not take away one of his four eligible years. the only way you can redshirt a player twice is if they get hurt at the very beginning of the year

∙ 15y agoNo age restriction just a grade restriction. Must be a freshman in high school to play varsity. Your states high school athletic association could clarify the answer your seeking. Often Jr. High runners will be allowed to run at high school track open events, but rarely will you see Jr. High student playing Varsity football, Basketball, or Baseball.

∙ 13y ago6 years or seasons is the maximum allowed by the NCAA for College Sports. A student is allowed to red shirt one year or season and may take one season off due to injuries, family issues, slipping grades, ect. If said student chooses not to red shirt they may take two years off for the fore mentioned reasons.
