Brazil's Jairzinho accomplished the feat in Mexico in the 1970 World Cup when he and his teammates (including Pele in his last World Cup appearance) defeated Italy. As an aside, Italy had defeated Germany in a match that ended in a 1-1 draw and went into extra time. Not one, not two, not three and not four, but five goals were scored in extra time before Italy advanced on the strength of their 4-3 victory.
