The NFL allocates money so the Super Bowl winner has 150 rings to give away to players and management and whoever else the team wants to give them to. This is why the slang term "rings" gets substituted for the word 'championships' or titles. If someone asked 'How many rings do the Steelers have?" they are actually asking 'How many Super Bowls have the Steelers won?".
