Yes if the player was on the active roster week one of the regular season and is a veteran.

Otherwise it depends on the player's contract. Guaranteed money is paid even if the player is released regardless of tenure.

In the NFL if you are cut you do NOT receive a salary any more, unlike MLB and NBA where the contract are guaranteed (you get paid no matter what for as long as your contract still remains). That is why in the NFL the signing bonus is the most important part of the contract, a big fat check up front that in most cases yuou get to keep a large portion of no matter what.

It depends on the terms of his contract - each player has a minimum criteria as a result of the Players' Bargaining Agreement; and, as long as the individual Player's contract does not interfere with the Bargaining Agreement, then a player may be able to receive his salary even if he is fired, especially if he is entitled to deferred compensation.

However, there are certain terms within a contract that could jeapodize a player's salary depending on the reason for the firing.

The vast majority of contracts in the NFL do not contain a guarantee clause. Players can negotiate a guarantee but they rarely get it. Bonuses negotiated with contracts are guaranteed.

Do you pay a contractor 8 hours if they didn't work 8 hours on the day they were fired?

This is a legal question. Not a math question. The answer depends on the contract. But if they were fired the contract seems already broken so I would say no they do not get paid. The way the question is structured it sounds like they were paid for hours worked, not for completion of the job.
