Why is the deep web important to students?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

There is information in the deep web that is not generally available on the surface web (where we are right now), which can include information posted by people in countries where the internet is highly censored. This can provide a different perspective for students trying to write papers or answer questions. On the other hand, going on the deep web can be highly dangerous and is not recommended for those without proper security software and who have not read up on how to navigate, or who do not intend to take proper precautions while accessing and navigating the deep web. Remember: Tor alone is not enough! Furthermore, teachers requiring citations will likely not accept information obtained on the deep web, unless they too know how to safely access it.

How can you tell if information you find on a website is reliable?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Since the Internet has made information, data and facts more widely accessible, and has made publishing these items less rigorous, trusting what you learn from a Web site can be more difficult than trusting what you can find in a book, for example.

However, when using the Internet as your sole source of information, it's a good idea to seek information on several Web sites.

Ultimately, whenever you quote a Web site as a source, recognize that in this case especially, one must consider the source.

What is a web-bot?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

A bot, most prominently in the first-person shooter types (FPS), is a type of weak AI expert system software which for each instance of the program controls a player in deathmatch, team deathmatch and/or cooperative human player. Computer bots may play against other bots and/or human players in unison, either over the Internet, on a LAN or in a local session. Features and intelligence of bots may vary greatly, especially with community created content. Advanced bots feature machine learning for dynamic learning of patterns of the opponent as well as dynamic learning of previously unknown maps -- whereas more trivial bots may rely completely on lists of waypoints created for each map by the developer, limiting the bot to play only maps with said waypoints. In MUDs, players may utilize bots to perform laborious tasks for them, sometimes even the bulk of the gameplay. While a prohibited practice in most MUDs, there is an incentive for the player to save his/her time while the bot accumulates resources, such as experience, for the player character.

How long will most people wait for a web page to load before losing patience?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Ans.

Mostly people does not wait more than 30-40 sec. max for loading of a web page, after that they lose patience and close the web page.

So the web page should be light in web size so that it can be downloaded quickly. Because mostly people use the normal speed internet that's why the web page loaded late and people wait to load it for 30-40 sec only. If the page is loaded in this time then people will take interest in that web page and read it but if it is not loaded in this time then user will lose patience and close that web page.

In rare case if user has need to see that web page then he will wait for 2-3-4 minute to load it.

How does the browser display the same web page whether you enter the URL or the IP address?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

This is the whole idea of HTTP, we don't easily as humans remember a sequence of numbers, for our most used sites, and it makes for poor memorability. IP addresses came first, and are the way of computers understanding addresses for websites, you may see Google.com (Or whatever example) but your browser translates this into something it can understand e.g. an IP address. by putting in an IP you basically just bypass the translation usually done whenever you go to a web address.
