Are vans tennis shoes?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

No they are not.

They provide no arch support and therefore are not good to wear for physical activity. They are casual shoes and should be worn as such. That being said I own 45 pairs of vans, and I have used them while running. Sometimes it was okay, but the majority of the time it wasn't.

Who was the person who invented Vans tennis shoes?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I believe his name was Van Doren. I still have an old Vans box that says Van Doren .I can remember in the early/mid 70's my Brother buying them through Surfer magazine because they didn't have a "store" at the time. My first time buying them in a store (LATE 70'S ) was located on Washington Blvd. In Culver City Cal. just east of Lincoln Blvd.

On March 16, 1966, at 704 E. Broadway, in Anaheim, California, Paul Van Doren and three partners opened up their first store. The Van Doren Rubber Company was unique in that it manufactured shoes and sold them directly to the public. On that first morning, 12 customers purchased Vans deck shoes, which are now known as Authentic. The shoes which were made that day were ready for pick-up in the afternoon.

*my first pair of Vans were bought for me by my parents at this store... red authentics/classics...in 1974.. still wear them to this day ...*

Can you use tennis shoes for squash?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

well, that would depend on the density of the squash. garden grown squash tend to be ok for use with a racquetball racquet, however, some store bought squash have a much higher density due to the fact that they require shipping in order to get to the supermarket. personally I like to hit my squash with a hockey stick but the choice is really up to you.

Why are shoes called tennis shoes if they are not for tennis?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Most of the time it just depends. A lot of people call regular sneakers 'tennis shoes', even when they aren't tennis shoes. Tennis shoes could generally be noticed by the tracks or markings on the bottom of the shoe. Most tennis shoes have non-marking soles with a round track under the big toe bone. Rubber Felts are included around the sole and upper shoe, that way toe draggers won't rip their shoe in 3 days

What are the best tennis shoes for sore feet?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Nike airs are good as they add extra support for all the running you do. Don't get thin soles or you will get shocks through your feet from the hard ground, instead try ones offering extra padding in the form of layers, air bubbles or thick soles. Good luck.
