You have what are known as "old pesos". In January 1993, the Mexican government introduced the new peso, worth 1,000 of the old pesos and divided into 100 centavos, to simplify foreign exchange. Current exchange rates are based on these "new pesos". Your old pesos have become essentially worthless for exchange. You'll find them in coin dealer miscellaneous foreign coin bins for 5/$1.00 As far as the exchange rate, I believe your total of 1660 old centavos would be roughly 4 cents US. Even if you had a reasonable total amount for exchange, if is impossible to exchange coins from another country.

Please look at the coin again to find the name of the country. All modern Mexican coins prominently show the country's name (Estadios Unidos Mexicanos, as you correctly surmised)

I was looking up the same question. Check out: http://www.collecting-coin.org/search Apparently, the value would depend on both silver content and whether or not worn/ circulated. Looks like it could range from about US $1.00 (10X exchange rate) up to around US $8.00 if "brilliant uncirculated." I supposedly have the peso John Huston gave to Humphrey Bogart in "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre." At least that's what the guy I got it from said, so I guess if they only did one take it might be worth more, unless Bogart kept messing up the scene so he could cadge more pesos.

If it's a gold coin, then it depends on the size and date. Re-ask the question specifying all the wording on both sides of the coin. If it's not gold, it has very little value -- these are often found in dealers' miscellaneous foreign bins for 25 cents or less.

It really depends. A quick guide of them are:

US: pre-1964 dimes, quarters and half dollars are 90% silver. Half dollars struck 1965-1970 are 40% silver.

UK: pre-1920 coinage is sterling (92.5% silver) 1920-1946 coinage is 50% silver.

Australia: Pre-1945 is sterling, 1945-1963 are 50% silver, the 1966 50 cent coin is 80% silver.

Canada: pre-1920 is sterling, 1920-1967 is 80% silver, 1967-1968 is 50% silver (HOWEVER, some 1968 coins are magnetic and 100% nickel. Check all 1968 coins with a magnet! Many are not silver!)

About 14 different countries use 'Peso' as their unit of currency and the value would depend on the age and condition, so this question is impossible to answer accurately. The 'Mil' in the value just means 1000.

If the note is from Mexico and from about 1985, then a mint condition note would be worth $2 to a banknote collector. A modern, 2002 or later, Mexican 1000 Peso note in any condition is worth $78 in any bank.
