How do you start box gimp?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

First you get 2 pieces of gimp at about 24 inches long. Next you fold each piece in half and it will make a crease ( try folding it a couple of times for it to show up.) Then you get a piece that is your left color (and mine is red) so you fold it over the blue string. After that you go over one and under. Keep repeating it and switch your strings so you don't make a not in your cube. Have fun and teach your friends and convince them to get gimp!

How do you make a double box spiral out of gimp?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

To make a double box spiral out of gimp, you first need to take 3 strings of any colors, one of which is 1 and a half times the other two's length. (You can make a rough guess.) Then, find the middle of all three strings. Take the longer one and make it so that it faces you vertically, leaving the other two side by side facing horizontally laying on top of the longer one. If you know how to make a box, skip these next instructions. If not, to make a box you have to make a loop out of one strand, so it goes straight across next to the other strand of the same color, which you will then make into another loop. Repeat this process with another 2 loops of the same color. When you

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Once upon a time you could drop an image into GIMP and start working on it. No more. Now, you must open it through the application. You do this with Ctrl+o for as many images from a single folder as you can handle, or Ctrl+Shift+o to open them all as layers in a single window.

How do you start the gimp string?

User Avatar

Asked by Dkw1998

You lay one string out then put the other string over the other so it forms a cross, then you pick up one end and put it over to the opposite string, then you take the one next to the string you just layed down and put that on the oppostie side, then you do like you usually would when you do the gimp and take the strings that aren't crossed and you put one over and under and the other string under and over. Then just pull on the ends and you have just started a gimp.

Simply save the picture in My Pictures as a PNG or JPG when you save your finished image. You can do this by typing in your image title when the save screen comes up and adding '.png' or '.jpg' to the end. Then go to facebook.com and upload the picture as you would normally. You can do that by clicking 'Photos' on the left side of the screen under your profile picture and then clicking 'upload photos'.

Is GIMP like Photoshop?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

It's an opinion question, but yes GIMP is good and you can make cool drawings out of it. It does cost anything, is cross platform (you can use it on computers running Linux or Windows or Solaris or Mac OS, or Amiga or BSD, etc.

It is a full fledged image manipulation program for advanced users it is fully on a par with Adobe Photoshop but the filters are slightly more complex to set up and use if you want to get the exact same effects that you can get with a few clicks in Photoshop.

Is it legal to Photoshop an image from Google Images if you don't plan on publishing it?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Every image shown in Google images has a different type of copyright. Your first job is to find the website it originates from, and see if the website is or shows where the image originally came from. Chances are, if the artist/ photographer has not directly stated that the image is free for use, then it is protected.

Ask yourself what the image is for. If it is just being worked on for fun and will never be posted or shown anywhere, then have fun! Don't worry about it.

If you will edit the image and then post it or display it either on or outside the web then it is common courtesy (and even required) to first ask the artist/photographer if you can use it. If your intentions are good, then most original uploaders will be quite accomodating. If you do not ask, you might be required to take it down later.

If you plan to use the edited image for commercial work, then you MUST and MUST MUST ask the owner of the image. They may have you pay an inexpensive fee for it. Make sure both parties are satisfied with the agreement. Put a signed agreement on paper if you feel it necessary.

There are two common misconceptions about google images,

First: "All google images are public property" In fact, google simply takes every image it can off the web, regardless of its source, and displays them in one place. All images are copywritten.

Second: "As long as you edit an image at least 7 times, or only take 25% of it, then it is yours." This is heavily debated, but if you can still see a piece of the original image in the work, then it can be said to still belong to the original artist.

Be careful and be nice, and you should be fine.

What are the limitations of GIMP?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

When using Adobe Photo shop for the first time, it is very hard to use and you would need a manual or someone to sit with you as you learn, each different version is totally different so for each different version you will have to relearn how to use Adobe Photo shop. It also costs a lot of money to get, with buying the program and the license that goes with it. Also, like most graphic programs it uses a lot of memory so more memory is needed, which would make the cost go up.
