What season do cobras lay their eggs?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

There are many different species of cobras, found throughout Asia and Africa, and different species have different breeding seasons. Keep in mind that most of the places where cobras live, naturally, do not have four seasons like temperate regions, but typically have just two seasons-a dry season and a rainy(monsoon) season, or experience the same type of weather and temperatures year-round. In places where there are two distinct seasons, cobras, along with many other animals, reproduce during or shortly after the rainy season, when food is more plentiful. In captivity, most species of cobras can breed and lay eggs at any time of the year, and may even breed and lay eggs more than once per year due to food and other necessary requirements always being available. Captive snakes aren't subjected to extremes of weather or starvation periods like snakes in the wild.

What happens if bitten by a rattlesnake?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

King snakes are constrictors and are not poisonous (unless you meant to ask about a king cobra), so nothing much will "happen". The bite could potentially become infected. As with any puncture wound, it might be worthwhile seeing a doctor and/or making sure your tetanus booster shots are up to date.

A king snake is not especially likely to bite a person without provocation; they're commonly kept as pets, since they're relatively easy to care for and are fairly docile, gentle animals.

How many people die cause of the Indian cobra?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

All cobra are venomous. Death would depend on the quantity of venom injected and the health of the recipient. But certainly many people are killed by snakes in the tropics each year.

If medical aid and anti venom is provided within minutes of snake bite, chances of saving the victim are pretty high. If it is a king cobra that bit, the venom is very potent and can kill the victim within 5 mins.

How long can you hold your king snake?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

It depends on the invidividual snake, how long they are willing to be handled. I advise you handle your snake at least every other day, for about 30 minutes, to keep it tame and used to being handled. Personally, I hold my king snake for several hours, almost every snake. If the snake is tired of being held, you should be able to tell, as the snake will become agitated and crabby. Some may even strike/bite if they get tired of being held. Like I said, it really depends on the snake. Snakes are very different, and even snakes of the same species, coloration, gender, age, and size can have completely opposite personalities.
