How does a wooly worm caterpillar affect the weather?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The wooly worm does not affect weather. They are indicators of weather because they are hardly ever seen in warm months such as July or June. We always see them in fall in a hurry to get somewhere. They are going into hibernation. So when you see a wooly worm headed somewhere during a month such as October or November that means cold temperatures are coming.

What method can use to control caterpillar?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Trapping caterpillars is very easy. In late summer all you have to do is sit under a willow or oak tree and look up. These little things will start to fall from the tree, to capture all of them find two adjasent trees and lay a large net, with tight knitting, between the two trees. Wait about twenty minutes after you see the first one fall and then collect the net. Otherwise you can just pick them up. If the are black and white, flip them onto their stomach and they will have a little penguin on their belly. It is really quite cool. Hope it helps.
