Research a process called "lost wax casting". The process is simple really. Make a model of what you want using wax. Put a stem on the model somewhere that you can peel off when it turns to metal. Put the model into a special sand or heat resistant casting plaster. Heat the plaster or sand casting to melt the wax and bring it up to the approximate temperature of the liquid metal, then pour in your heated/liquified metal into the spout that was created by the stem. There are a couple methods of forcing the metal into the small cracks and you'll find them by researching the process.

How do you change the brake light switch on a 1999 deville?

This question is too general but will provide an answer to the rear light on 2007 CTS (which I presume is the same for all current models). The nuts needed to be unscrewed are accessed behind the body panels in the trunk. The body panel can be pulled away by unscrewing the tie downs (black plastic knobs) and moving the cover from the spare wheel well. Note: be careful unscrewing the nuts so they aren't dropped. Although the void in the rear corner is not deep, you will may have to clear some other components bolted to the body in order to get your hands into the void. Once the nuts are removed, the rear light cover can be pulled away from the body. The bulbs can be accessed once the cover is pulled away from car body.

If by nothing you mean it acks as though there is no battery in the car try this it worked on my (1990 DEVILLE ). Put the car in park ,Attach a remote starter switch to the starter, remove the air cleaner, turn the key to the on position, put approx one teaspoon of gas in the intake manifoil throat and try to start the engin using the remote starter. If the car starts the problem is somewhere in the pass key decoder circuit which includes the starter enable relay ,the fuel pump relay, key warning ,seat belt warning ETC. Your car has on onboard diagnostic computer which will give basic problem codes you can find out what the codes mean in a Haynes Repair Manual for your car. I repaired my car by bypassing the starter enable relay and the car works fine (but if the battery is disconnected for any reason I must charge the engine with a teaspoon of gas to restart the car GOOD LUCK a repair is $600+

How to replace the starter on a 1996 Cadillac De ville with North Star Engine?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The Starter Motor Is Located Under The Intake Manifold, You Have To Remove A Bunch Of Stuff To Remove The Manifold To Get To The Starter, It Is A Small Gear Reduction Starter. Not Hard To Replace At That Point. But A Lot Of Trouble To Get To. I Recommend You Take It To A Good Garrage. Expect To Pay A Pretty High Price Also. Considering The Labor Involved. GOD BLESS

Where is the starter fuse for a 1987 Cadillac DeVille?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

29s here, i work for an automotive company a recently we had a 94 or 95 caddy deville with the north star engine in for a starter replacement. the starter was located in the center of the motor! the engine is a v-shape (v8) with the intake cover acting as a lid overtop of the motor with the starter smack in the center. you would have to remove the intake in order to even see the starter if you have the same motor types.

That is exactly how to remove it on a 97, i have one and the starter is located under the intake.

How do you change a starter on a 1997 Cadillac De ville with North star V8 engine?

1.

Disconnect the battery cable. 2.

Raise the car to a convenient working height. 3.

Disconnect all wiring from the starter solenoid. Replace each nut as the connector is removed, as thread sizes differ from connector to connector. Note or tag the wiring positions for installation.

On some models it may be necessary to remove the crossover pipe to complete this procedure.

4.

Remove the front bracket from the starter and the two mounting bolts. On engines with a solenoid heat shield, remove the front bracket upper bolt and detach the bracket from the starter. 5.

Remove the front bracket bolt or nut. Lower the starter front end first, and then remove the unit from the car. 6.

Reverse the removal procedures to install the starter. Tighten the two mounting bolts.

How do you install starter on 1995 Cadillac sedan deville?

try going to the parts store and buying a chilton manual for the make and model of your vehicle. It has diagrams and step by step instructions. It will cost somewhere around 30 dollars of so and if you ever need to fix any other part of the same vehicle you will have it at your fingertips.

Disconnect the negative terminal on the battery. And this is What Chiltons doesn't tell you:I've done it too many times. You probably need to remove the pipe from the manifold and pull it towards the front of the engine until it comes off the male end of the muffler in front of the catalytic converter. The rest is smooth sailing because you can't get the starter out of there without it being removed. The bolts on the manifold are tricky and may requre plenty of liquid wrench, patience and a double jointed socket. These starters and the whole damn car were notorious for electrical problems. Improve your chances by having the starter rebuilt by a professional shop, you'll save money and they'll spec it according to your car, not like the generac crap you get at Auto whatever.Getting the starter out requires a little twisting and turning but it does come out. Finally, buy a grounding wire and attach it to the ground bolt on the starter on top of the existing ground wire. Take the other end and secure it to the frame of the car, doesn't have to be long, drill a hole or find an existing hole and put a safety washer and bolt on it, securing it to the frame. I sanded the area down a little to have a good contact. The aluminum blocks on these vehicles don't ground well and it's worth the extra effort. The poor grounding can lead to failures in the ignition switch, alternator, battery, etc. Good luck.

How do you remove the rotor from a 1986 Prelude?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I think you're talking about the brake rotor...right? If so, it's probably only seized on the hub by rust...typical for some FWD's. Get a good hammer and beat on the back of the rotorin various spots until it comes off. WD 40 on the hub or any type of oil will help.

What is the meaning of resistor?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Resistors are one of the three basic electronic components. They restrict the flow of current in an electrical circuit. Fixed resistors have a fixed value of resistance, and are used in almost every electronic circuit for lots of different reasons.

Why use a resistor?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Resistance:

Electrical resistance describes how an electrical conductor (a wire) opposes the flow of an electrical current (flow of electrons). To overcome this opposition a voltage (a energy) must dropped (used) across the conductor (wire). Resistance can be described by ohms law:

Ohms Law: R = V / I (Resistance = Voltage / Current) (resistance measured in ohms)

where:

Voltage [V]= the energy lost across an component (voltage measured in volts).

Current [I] = the charge (electrons) flowing through an component (current measured in Amps).

Electrical resistance can be thought of as sticking your hand out a car window. The faster [current] you drive the harder the wind presses [resistance] against you hand and therefore it takes more energy [voltage] to hold your hand steady.

When trying to overcome electrical resistance, the electrical energy lost is turned into heat. This is how the elements of a household stove, toaster, and fan heater work. Because of the vacuum in a light bulb, the electrical energy lost is instead turned into light. It can be seen the electrical resistance plays a large role in modern life.

Resistor:

The resistor is the most common electronic component and is used to limit and/or control the voltage and current in an electronic circuit. Resistors are carefully manufactured to provide a predetermined value of electrical resistance which may range from 0.1 ohms to 100,000,000 ohms, depending on the application. The physical size of a resistor also varies dependant on the amount of power passing through the resistor, given by:

P = V x I (Power = Voltage x Current) (power measured in watts)

There are also many types of resistors including:

· Variable Resistor - changes resistance when its shaft is rotated (volume knob on a stereo).

· Thermistor - changes resistance when the temperature changes (used in a thermostat).

· Light Dependant Resistor (LDR) - changes resistance when the lighting changes (used in children's night-lights).

Resistor Example:

An LED is a small red light (such as the one on the front of most TVs) and requires 2.0 volts and 0.02 amps to operate correctly. If we connected that LED up directly to a 12 volt battery, the voltage would be too high, and too much current would flow... the LED would blow up. We need to use a resistor to limit the voltage and current.

But which value of resistance should the have resistor? Uses ohms law:

R = V / I = (12.0 - 2.0) / 0.02 = 500 ohms

(Note: the voltage across the resistor is the battery voltage minus the voltage we want across the LED)

But which value of power should the resistor be capable of handling?

P = V x I = (12.0 - 2.0) / 0.02 = 0.2 Watts

ANSWER: HOW ELSE WE BE ABLE TO AMPLIFY A SIGNAL that is the answer.

How do you replace the fuel pump on a 1977 Cadillac Sedan DeVille?

How do you get a new AC compressor started on a 1987 Pontiac 6000 since it is low on freon?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

You can get a retro-kit at Wal-Mart or local parts store with complete instructions. You can jusmp out pressure switch at accumulator with paper clip to start compressor during refill procedure

hey if you do not have freon in the system you have to go to an auto repair shop that does a/c work and have the system vacuumed down to 3in hg.then you can add freon this cant be done by you unless you have an a/c vacuum pump and the proper connection hoses and gauges. don`t know if you`ve had the car retrofitted to except r134 instead of the r112 that year came with, because if you hav`nt you ca`t buy r112 without an license. but all you have to do is go to auto zone or pep boys and buy a refit kit for about 40 bucks. change the nozzles yourself add in the oil and then go to your a/c shop and let them pull a vacuum on your system then add the freon from the kit and hope you don`t have a leak somewhere hope this was able to help you out

Why did i replace the top radiator hose filled with antifreeze and the engine still smokes?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Because there is antifreeze int he system and it takes a while to burn through.

Also replace the bottom hose too. <> If it smokes from under the hood, It has antifreeze on the engine exterior, You can wash it off. Or just drive it and it will burn off. If it smokes from the exhaust, There is engine damage.
