What is low speed mach buffet?

User Avatar

Asked by Rlasris

Low speed mach buffet is a term used in aviation to describe the buffet or vibration that occurs on an aircraft as it approaches the critical mach number at low speeds.

The critical mach number is the speed at which the airflow over the wings reaches the speed of sound, causing a shock wave to form and disrupt the airflow over the wings.

When an aircraft approaches the critical mach number at low speeds, such as during takeoff or landing, it may experience buffet or vibrations as the airflow becomes turbulent and begins to separate from the wings.

This can cause a decrease in lift and an increase in drag, making it more difficult for the aircraft to maintain control.

Pilots are trained to recognize and respond to low speed mach buffet by adjusting their speed and angle of attack to prevent the aircraft from entering an aerodynamic stall.

By understanding the effects of low speed mach buffet and how to mitigate them, pilots can safely operate aircraft at low speeds without compromising performance or safety.

What caused the airplane to move to the top of the lake in the book hatchet?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The airplane was lifted to the surface of the lake due to the accumulation of gas inside it, caused by its engine running which led to internal pressure build-up and eventual release when the plane broke the surface tension.

Are there ever going to be flying cars?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

They already exist, but they are off the market because it would require a air strip, not enough land. So if you expect some like the cab in the Fifth Element we would have to wait till anti-gravity is created.

How does a balloonist control the fall and rise?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

A balloonist controls the balloon's altitude by adjusting the temperature inside the envelope. By heating the air with burners, the balloon rises, and by allowing the air to cool, the balloon descends. Additionally, the balloonist can control horizontal movement by finding winds blowing in different directions at varying altitudes.

How long does it take to become a pilot of a private plane?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

How long it takes to become a pilot depends on a couple of factors. One being the type of pilot you wish to be, and the other being the amount of time you put into it. One who wishes to fly their own plane, can finishing training in around eight months. If they put in a lot of flight time. Those who wish to become a pilot as a career should expect to spend four or more years training.

To receive a Private Pilot license in the U.S., the FAA requires student pilots to have a minimum of 40 hours of flight time, and complete an FAA ground school test. However, this is the minimum and most people take longer, normally between 50 - 60 flight hours if you fly frequently. This can take anywhere from 3 months to years depending on how often you fly. Flying 2 to 3 times a week is necessary if you want to complete it quickly.

To obtain an FAA Airline Transport Pilot certificate (commercial airline pilot) takes a minimum of 1500 flight hours. This will take a couple of years to gain this many flight hours and to go through a pilot program, but all depends on how frequently you are able to fly. You will also need a bachelor's degree to be competitive to get a job for a major airline in the U.S.

How much money does a truckdriver make in a week?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

It all depends how much you have in the way of Expenses. When you drive a truck keep in mind that you need money for Constance repairs as well as tires and don't forget the diesel fuel. You should have a expense account set aside for all those things. Then after all they are taken care of then the rest is yours for savings.

As a truck driver though you will be spending more in repairs and fuel then savings. My suggestion is to work for someone and let him worry about all the repairs and fuel cost. On top of all that what about your health care and your SS contributions. Keep that in mind as well. Good luck.

Do you have a good chance of becoming a pilot?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

From everything ive read it is very hard you have to admit if they had it as an easy way then alot more planes would crash and alot more good men would die. , though there are a lot of things to help better your chances. Such as grades (depending if your in school or not) joining JROTC (highschool) ROTC (college) and OTS (once your in the military) to become an officer. having extra carriculars isn't terrible either.

ive also heard having a pilot license, which you can get when your 16 and have some cash, the more hours you have in the air, the more it shows the military your willing to fight for flight. also you have to do anything you can to get into airforce academy which is free if you make it.

Do planes look like birds?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

It's all a matter of opinion. I would say they have some similar qualities, although last time I checked birds don't have engines :P

Anyway, like I said, it's about opinion. Some people will say birds look exactly like planes, others will say they look nothing like birds.

Birds do have wings like planes do, and a back flip/tail, like planes do. They also share the same front base, as a bird has their head in front, and the plane has the cockpit.

In fact, some planes are actually modeled after birds.

"New research suggests that a bird-shaped airplane - with angled wings and a fatter body - would make the modern plane more fuel efficient. I spoke recently with Geoffrey Spedding, an engineer at the University of Southern California, about this discovery - and how it could change the way we fly."

How does lift work for a plane or a bird?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Basically the lift of the plane works on the balanceness of air pressure. When the air pressure is made to build more below the plane and the air pressure on the upper part becomes less, then the plane gets a lift.

Can you take a bird on a airplane?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Yes they can. Parrots can fly unless you give them a wingcut. Wingcut is cutting a little part of the wing feathers so that the parrot can't fly. Wingcut is totally harmless to the parrot. As time passes, the wing feathers grow back and the parrot can fly again.

All species of parrots can fly, with the exception of the kakapo, a critically endangered flightless parrot of New Zealand.

Parrots have an erratic flight path, and they are capable of zig-zagging back and forth in a way many other birds cannot. This is a protective mechanism, which makes it more difficult for predators such as hawks to catch them.
