Astroturf is a type of artificial turf used to mimic grass. While not the same as grass, the cost of laying AstroTurf, especially in indoor stadiums, is much cheaper then laying natural turf and maintaining it.

∙ 14y agoAstroTurf is the brand name of an artificial lawn. It's often used in sports stadiums. It's green and the the fibers resemble grass. It's becoming a verb in slang. To Astroturf is to set up a grassroots organization that isn't all it appears to be, hence the term.
