robert g josephberg from yonkers,ny did it 10,500 times at age 7 in front of hundreds of onlookers at John Wanamakers Department store in the cross county shopping center, in Yonkers , NY> this record has never been broken!he had to stop because the department store was closing for the evening. This was done on September 18, 1957. Multiple newspapers and TV stations both locally and nationally carried the story> in fact , the Daily Mirror based in NYC carried the story on page 3> This was during the hula hoop craze> Boy could that kid swivel his hips. he had previously set the record in the Bronx at over 3,000 hoops when it caught the eyes of John Wanamakers Department Store who officially set up a ring along with newspapers and cameramen who came to view this history making fun event> Just imagine if he had more time and the store was not closing .Imagine doing this at age 7 and in fact , he also ate lunch at the same time while doing this . Boy was he good. Maybe in his age bracket the best hula hooper ever.. For his accomplishment John Wanamakers gave him 2 bicycles , one for himself and one for his younger sister Nancy Josephberg !
