Why would you want to turn a freebord into a longboard? Anyway, you can turn a freebord into a longboard by removing the baseplate, buy a new longboard baseplate and truck, however, if you find a baseplate with the correct specs for the sizes and rubbers it would be possible to use the freebord trucks. However the trucks are too long for a longboard, unless you like sliding, deep curves and Uncontrollable speed :)

∙ 12y agoSure you can! Skateboard wheels are generally smaller than long board wheels, so wheel clearance should not be a problem. However, long board wheels are suited to long boards, so the speed and smoothness of ride will probably deteriorate, in exchange for a lighter long board.(if you make the switch)

∙ 13y agoThe comparison is very personal and is it all about preference. It depends on your style and what suits the terrain you are riding. Longboarding is more versatile than freebording but you can do things on each one that you can't do on the other.

What are the different types of surfboards?
longboards, shortboards; okay that is true, but those are only two types. you have Shortboards, generally used for large waves between 4-12 ft roughly. There are guns which have a shortboard shape, very skinny but tall high 6 foot up to 10 foot these are made for surfing BIG waves, double overhead and up. You have fish, which are shorter than shortboards but a lot fatter. Funboards, which are taller than shortboards, fatter, and have a more rounded nose. Longboards, which are usually 8 to 10 feet. Noseriders, which are taller than longboards, thicker in the nose and have more rocker so you can actually "ride the nose" then on top of that you have epoxy and fiberglass, hybrids like fun-fishes. All different types, and you can customize your own. Pintail, flat-tail, swallow-tail, or bat-tail to name a few. Hope this helped, if you have a beginner get yourself a longboard with a soft top

The difference in weight of a longboard is very minimal but may have a slight change. Heavier longboards will take a little longer to accelerate but will also lose speed slower. Light longboards gain speed faster but they also lose it faster. On a big hill the maximum speed will have to do more with your tuck, the road conditions, and quality/durometer of wheels than it would with the weight of the board.
