The mile and a half run is extremely rarely, if ever contested by elite runners. However based on current world records for the mile and two mile, we can infer that the world record if it were commonly contested would probably be about 5:50.
The 1 Kilometer run is not an Olympic event in Track and Field. The current world record for the men's 1 kilometer is held by Noah Ngeny from Kenya. His time is 2:11:96. He ran on September 5, 1999.

If you run a mile in 2 seconds, you will be the fastest animal running. The record is just under 4 MINUTES!Still, it would take you 2616*2 = 5232 seconds = 1.4533... (recurring) hours.
Best runner in the world(currently): JFire with a time of 2:31 seconds in the mile Slowest: KBenk with a time of: hes still running his first mile
At the 2001 World Championships in Fukuoka, Japan Hackett finished the 1500 meter in 14:34.5; smashing the previous world record. This was 2 1/2 months after his 21st birthday.
Skiing would be measured along the slope, whereas running is usually measured by the distance covered irrelevant of terrain. I am not a good skier, so I ski almost horizontally, so 1 mile skiing would be almost 1 mile running. FOr a good skier, 1 mile skiing could be 2/3 mile running.
Beatrice Arthur holds the world record for a female running the mile with a time of 3:56.24 She set the milestone in 1933 when she was 20 years old. Oddly enough she also set the record for the slowest mile run by a female in 1995 at the age of 82 with a time of 4 Days 16 Hours 37 Minutes and 16.34 Seconds.
On June 8th, 1962 Jim Beatty ran the world record for the 2 mile distance with a time of 8:29.8.
There were 2 significant world records in running in 2009, namely the 100m and 200m. Both were set by Usain Bolt from Jamaica at the World Championships in Berlin, Germany. His time for the 100m was 9.85 seconds and for the 200m 19.19 seconds.
There are no official records for the 1.5 mile distance, but considering that the 2 mile "world best" is less than 8 minutes, if there was a record it would be less than 6 minutes. Combining the times for 1000m and 1500m gives a minimum estimate for 2500m (1.55 mi) of between 5 minutes, 38 seconds and 5 minutes 48 seconds.
