The Olympic/international ice surface is 200 ft x 100 ft ( 60 m x 30 m) making it about 3000 sq. feet bigger than an NHL/North American rink.Apparently, this larger rink is used in all countries where hockey is played except in Canada & the USA. However, I've heard that in Finland they use a hybrid size which is bigger than in North America but smaller than the international surface.

During the upcoming Vancouver Olympics, games will be played on the North American size rinks as two modern arenas were already available and it would have been very expensive to build two more Olympic-sized stadia.
