∙ 16y agoAs far as I can remember, The Sugarhill Gang recorded the first HipHop sound. " King Tim III (Personality Jock) by 'The Fatback Band' was released as the B-side to "you're My Candy Sweet" several weeks before 'The Sugarhill gang' released "Rapper's Delight".

∙ 13y agoRun Dmc "Rock Box" was released in 1984 and perhaps had the greatest impact of early hip hop Music Videos because of the song's success and video rotation on MTV. However, the first music video to capture the original four elements of hip hop culture, was "Buffalo Gals" by Malcolm Mclaren and the Worlds Famous Supreme Team. It was released in 1982 and is the first to feature the many elements of hip hop including, rapping, scratching, graffiti and Break Dancing by members of the rocksteady crew. It was a groundbreaking music video and also introduced hip hop to the UK. "Magic's Wand" by Whodini was released in 1981 and had the first official hip hop music video by rap artists, but another video in 1981, "Rapture" by Blondie, a pop disco/rap song which was the first "rap music video" to be played on MTV in 1982. There are other rap music videos that came out in 1982 such as "Planet Rock" by Afrika Bambaataa and the Soul Sonic Force that showcased hip hop. Also, The "Message" by Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five 1982. Another video to consider would be the 1979 hit "Rappers Delight" by the Sugarhill Gang, although this was footage from a live performance later to be released as a music video.
