Here's a few:

  • dehydration - water bottle and sports drink stands are located in certain points of the race to prevent this, but it's hard to drink whilst running and they're always overstocked (costs money)
  • A large course needs to be available, often meaning roads and other paths are blocked off
  • hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar levels) can set in, which can cause blackouts, dizziness and liver damage. This can be prevented by taking the sports drinks and high sugar snacks positioned at certain points, but over-consumption can lead to discomfort
  • carbohydrate stores may deplete, so fats may be broken down for energy which required more water (potentially leading to dehydration). Since marathon runners generally don't have a good supply of fat, their bodies may resort to breaking down protein for energy (starvation response - muscles and organs are eaten away). This decreases speed and causes loss of control over muscles, so runners may collapse and possibly require hospitalisation
  • due to microtears in muscles from repeated impact in running, such long distances cannot be run regularly, making it difficult to train for marathons

How long is a 13k marithon?

I think you are a little confused. If a race is 13k then the distance is 13 kilometres, obviously. There is no such thing as a 13k marathon. A marathon is 26.2 miles, or 42.2km - with a half-marathon being half that distance, obviously. So, there is a chance that your 13km marathon refers to the 13.1 miles that are in a half-marathon. Hope that helps.
