Badminton was first created in India and was called poona. It came to England when an English noble came back from travvelling in India and after watching the Indian children having great joy in playing poona started playing it back at home in England. his wife and him both disliked the name poona and so called it shuttlecock, this name was later dropped by King Henry VIII when he named it Badminton after a visit to a friends house which was Badminton House.

Hope you found this awnser useful because i hate it when people put random awnsers like "I don't know"!

It began in the middle of the 1700s. It was launched as a 'propper' sport in 1873 when it was played at Badminton House, which is where the game gets its name from.
