For a football player in full gear it would be a very good time. Most good running backs and defensive safeties in college can do about a 4.5-4.7 in full gear, good linemen do about 5.2 -5.5. High school is a bit slower. These are big guys in full gear - I would assume a fast sprinter with spikes in shorts is faster. I'm not sure whether that's a good time for track sprinter.

Depends upon your level and your position.

It is good enough for almost any position in high school, and good enough in college for anything except wide receivers and defensive backs at elite colleges.

In the pros, it is probably only good enough for "slow" positions, like QB, defensive line, etc.

A 4.88 forty yard dash is a very good time for a 200 pound 5 foot 5 inch 12 year old. Any time under five seconds is excellent for that age.
