It depends. You first have to be on a level. There are levels 4,5,6,7,8,9,10. Most level 4's are in first grade. So you can compete when you are pretty young.. but you have to be good. I am a level 9. =]
Gymnasts must be 16 years old or turning 16 in that calendar year in order to compete in the Olympics or other international meets. There is no maximum age.
This age limit has been raised a few times and is controversial because many of the best gymnasts in the world are below 16 and thus unable to compete in the Olympics. The great gymnast Nadia Comăneci was only 14 years old when she scored the first perfect 10 in Olympic history at the 1976 Olympic games and won five medals, three of them gold. At this time the minimum age was 14, however Nadia would not have been allowed to compete under today's rules.
The age limit was raised from 14 to 15 in 1980 as a result of younger and younger girls competing. In 1997 it was raised again to 16 where it currently stands.
In artistic gymnastics for women you have to be 16 or over. or if you turn 16 on the year of the olympics you can compete. For men you have to be 18 or over. or if you turn 18 in the year of the olympics you can compete. hope this helps
An Olympic gymnast must be a least 16 years old to compete. This rule was enacted in 1996 by the International Federation of Gymnasts.
You must be 16 to compete as a gymnast in the Olympics.
you have to be 14 to enter your self in the Olympics.
You must be turning sixteen the year of the Olympics. So even if you were only fifteen during the Olympics you could still participate so long as you are turning sixteen that same year.

Gymnastics.
in gymnastics you don't "score goals" you compete and receive points.
that means that you do not compete on it. Instead you just compete on the other events.
You can overcome your fears by trying your best and not giving up and before you know it, you will be competing in gymnastics like you were never afraid to compete.
In recreational gymnastics, you don't compete and just do it for fun and to stay fit, but when you compete, you're on Team gymnastics and you have different levels that you compete in for different skills. From levels 1-6, you compete compulsory routines- that the USA Gymnastics have made up, but when you get to level 7-10, you make up your own routines. After level 10, you're considered to be elite.
