The teams RPI (Ratings Percentage Index), SOS (Strength of Schedule), Key losses, Key wins, how the team peformed in their respective conference (Big XIII, Big 10, etc.), their performance over the last 12 games, amongst many other deciding factors; yet, these are the greatest factors. How did the term seeded come to be?

The term "seeded" likely originated from the practice of planting seeds in soil to grow crops.
