A tour pro keeps his card if he places in the top 125 money-winners on the PGA Tour
If you win a major championship you get a 5 year exemption. If you win a PGA Tour event you get a 2 year exemption. You can finish in the top 125 on the PGA Tour money list, and this allows you to keep your status for a further year.
He has some status. He is 139th. The top 125 has full status, but 125-150 has some. He has veteran status because he has made 150 cuts in his career. He also has past winner status because he has won on tour.
When a player earns conditional status on the PGA Tour, they are able to play in all Nationwide Tour events and PGA Tour events which have larger fields or the ones where the top players do not play in. They can usually play the fall series events.
Not that many, unless they want to. The WGC and Major events are co sanctioned so qualify as PGA Tour events. A player must play 15 events to keep their card, assuming they maintain exempt status.
The Nationwide Tour would be the tour before the PGA Tour, the top 25 on the Nationwide tour at the end of the season win PGA Tour cards.
