I really hate to break this to you and everything... But I'm only 12 years old, and without researching this or anything, I'm just assuming that they were cancelled due to the world wars... Seriously...who'd want to go to the Olympics during a World War?
They weren't. The 1912 Olympics were held as scheduled in Stockholm, Sweden.
The 1916 Olympics, scheduled for Berlin, Germany, were cancelled due to World War I.
No Olympics were held during the Second world war
The 1916 Games (The Games of the VI Olympiad) were canceled because of World War One. The 1940 and 1944 Games (the Games of the XII and XIII Olympiads) were canceled because of World War Two.
the war was raging in Europe so there were no summer or winter Olympics being held for 5 years
1916: wwI1940: WWII
1944: WWII
The fall of the Berlin wall was the year 1989.
Well the battle of Berlin ended in Germany's surrender and many other things. 1) Berlin was split into two halves, a Soviet half and an Allied half. 2) Germany was split in half, A soviet half and an allied half. This also eventually led to the Cold War and the Red Scare of the 50's. You know, fear of the USSR making everyone communist and such.
