Alexander Kerensky was head of the Russian Provisional Government and leader of Russia before the Communist Revolution in October 1917. Tsar Nicholas II had bee leader of Russia but he had already abdicated as a result of the February Revolution.

The Provisional Government, first under Prince Georgy Lvov then under Alexander Kerensky ruled immediately before Lenin took control. Prior to the Provisional Government, Tsar Nicholas II ruled Russia.

Actually, the government before Lenin was the Provisional Government, which was headed first by Prince Georgy Lvov and then by Alexander Fyodorovich Kerensky, before it was overthrown in the October Revolution by Lenin and his Bolshevik Party.

Actually, before Lenin took over, Russia was governed by a Provisional Government headed first by Prince Georgy Lvov and later by Alexander Kerensky until the October Revolution when Lenin and the Bolsheviks took control of the government and ousted the Provisional Government from power. Tsar Nicholas II was the ruling Tsar when the February 1917 revolution took place and he abdicated the throne and the Provisional Government took over.
