Two players in MLB history have stolen 7 bases in one game. George Gore did it in 1881 and Billy Hamilton in 1894. In the modern baseball era, five players have stolen 6 bases in one game: Otis Nixon, Atlanta Braves (1991), Eric Young, Colorado Rockies (1996), and Carl Crawford, Tampa Bay Rays (2009); Eddie Collins did it twice in the same month (Sept. 1912) for the Philadelphia A's!

I'm pretty sure it was Jackie Robinson. Not even close Ty Cobb stole home upwards of 50 times. The first steal of home took place in the 19th century but probably will never be pinpointed.
