This depends on the team and what the owners agree to do. Usually, it's around 30-35 games, but it can definitely range. Mostly, preseason games are to just test out the newcomers or previous prospects to see if they are up to the skill level of the major leagues. From these pregames, they determine if they are or are not. Just remember, how a team does in the preseason will have very little or no reflection of how they will do in the regular season because all of the teams are just playing their prospects and not their everyday players.
