∙ 14y agoThere are two years between an edition of the Summer Olympics and the next Winter Olympics, and then another two years before the next Summer Games.
Between editions of the Games of the same season, there are four years. This goes back to ancient times, as there were four different sporting/religious events held by the Greeks. One was held every year, causing a rotation. The greatest of these events was, of course, the Games of Olympia, the games dedicated to Zeus.
