The Colosseum was built from the wealth Rome stole from its war with Judea. Jewish slaves were part of the slave workforce that built this massive amphitheater. Work began on it in 72 AD CE and it was completed in 80 AD CE. The Romans used a variety of building materials on this project that began under Vespasian and was completed by Titus. The amphitheater was said to hold up to 80,000 spectators.
