The Yankees were meant to play the Devil Rays on September 26th, the final game of the series. The game was postponed, and the game was never able to be rescheduled. In addition, it would have been redundant to have them play the game, because not only were the Devil Rays 48 games back, but the Red Sox, who finished second in the East, were 10.5 games back going into the postseason.

Similarly, the Twins and Tigers did not make up a postponed game due to the Twins' massive lead in the AL Central. In addition, the Braves, Phillies, and Mets also did not play full seasons (the Braves played only 160, as a matter of fact.).
