You must start out with a set of weights you can work with and gradually increase the weight as the days go by. For example, if you start of working out with 150 pounds on a bench press then eventually as the days go by you should increase the weight up to 5 to 10 more pounds.

In order to improve muscular strength, you train the muscles. This is usually done with weight training or resistance training. If you put your muscles to work and make them work hard to the point where they are sore, then as your muscles recover, they will be rebuilt bigger and stronger than before in anticipation of doing that same work again. As you get stronger, you can increase the weight or resistance, and push the muscles to become yet bigger and stronger.

The fastest way to gain weight is to eat a lot of sugar and rice, as much as you possibly can without puking, every hour you're awake. Of course, this will make you fat, not muscular. There is no real way to gain muscle as fast as most people want. All you can do is train hard, train often, and eat right. Diet is arguably the most important factor in determining overall body composition.

By eating things with lots of untreated fat, like fresh salmon. This isn't recommended, though, since gaining lots of weight in a small amount of time can be very dangerous (and deadly).
