How do you know if a Larry Bird 1990 card is authentic?

I actually own a graded one so I know it is not a fake. Some people say that the O Pee Chee card has extra yellow on the left shoulder of Gretzky. It is more or less a blotch. The Topps card only has a faint line of yellow on the left shoulder. Other than that Buy pre graded cards. If the condition of the card is to good to be true. It is a FAKE!!!

Players may have one or dozens of rookie cards, depending on how highly touted he was as a youngster and in which year his rookie card was issued. You cannot tell if you have a rookie card by any marking on the card, as some might. You would have to look up a check lists for a particular card company to see what year the first card was issued.

If a card reads Rookie on it, it does not necessarily mean it is a rookie card. A card could have been issued for that player in a earlier set.
