In my opinion, yes, jujitsu is very helpful when it comes to grapples, wrist locks and what not. It hardly requires any strength whatsoever because most of the attacks involve using the opponent's strength against themselves. Another good thing about jujitsu is the wrist locks, even the biggest of people have pressure points, apply these correctly and you have control of the fight. In jujitsu they not only teach you how to master pressure points but how to get out of them.

Brazilian Jujitsu it a good fighting art, not self defense art. If you hop in a ring with another dude, and agree to a set of rules, BJJ is the way to go. On the street, BJJ will get you killed. For example: You are challenged to a fight, you land a punch and he goes down. You, being a BJJ practitioner, immediately mount him and begin your ground attack. In the mean time, his friend runs up behind you and stabs you in the back. If you want to learn self defense, try Krav Maga or Aikido.

All Martial Arts (Asian martial arts and others) focus on a strikes and blocks. The difference between styles has to do with their underlying "philosophy": Are they more attack oriented (Jujitsu) or defense oriented (Judo) ? Are they more rigid (Tae Kwon Do) or fluid (Tai Chi) and so on.

Some also have a spiritual component (the idea of "Chi" for instance) but this is not necessary. Close Quarters Combat is a martial art form developed for special ops taking bits and peices of a multitude of existing forms, but is completely devoid of any "spirituality". Ninjitsu also generally falls into this category.

Jujitsu and Judo are both cultural martial arts, and to say that one system is above another would be a bit naive. All martial arts have their respective strengths and weaknesses which depend upon the situation that the practitioner is in. Judo is mainly an art of grappling and throws. Jujitsu is an art (Which was developed by a woman, but still works great for men) of wrist and arm locks. You should re phrase your question and ask these questions:

1. What martial art is suited for me? (IE my body type and mental disposition)

2. What am I intending to use it for (sport, self defense, or the pure joy and beauty of the Art, while also gaining other benefits)

Only then you will realize what is best for you, and not which one is superior!

Yes, Jujitsu is the fore runner of Judo. By taking out the 'dangerous' moves in jujitsu, judo was codified and made a sport. And that is not in any way to imply that a well trained judoka couldn't wipe the floor with someone.

Yes, BJJ is very good for Self-defence. BJJ is a pretty powerful martial artwork that can be used in each stand-up and ground-preventing situations. It's miles versatile, efficient, and respects the opponent. One of the major motives it could be so powerful is that the moves that you study are often to govern your opponent and forestall them from moving, that way you don’t get hit. In other phrases, you can take manipulate the situation and have your opponent publish which can help to stop combat or a person faster.

BJJ is specifically good for self-defense as it focuses specifically on the defensive aspect. Of course, if the other party is not holding any weapon and you have sound knowledge of BJJ, I think you’ll be golden.

Can Jujitsu be used Aggresively?

There are some techniques in which Jujitsu can be used aggressively but from what I've seen...there aren't many. Jujitsu is not a martial art that teaches punches and kicks it teaches grapples and escapes, reversals and counters. Therefore making it more of a self defense martial art; than an aggressive one. Hope this helps.
