internet dojos etc. etc. isn't recommended. It's RECOMMENDED that you have a friend willing to learn and spar with you if you choose this course of learning. If you are serious about learning Martial Arts on the internet (for free), don't just Google guides, get videos, etc. etc. although there are many great video lessons out there, try using Google to find useful Jeet Kune Do videos. If you are a beginner you can start by going to www.boxing4free.com, it's an online boxing gym that offers free boxing lessons on basic punches, footwork and defense. I've sparred with Justin Salvato (head coach of Boxing 4 Free) in person, and he is extremely talented. If you want to learn something quick, start with Boxing 4 Free and read the Tao of Jeet Kune Do by Bruce Lee. It's much more simple to start small and build on from there, focusing more on the honing of body than the learning of movement, like Tai Chi, almost. If you want to learn to fight well, try CloQuba Ha-Jutsu. This is the offensive version of Krav Maga. I would say it is offensive, and that is a rare thing in the martial arts world.

You really can't. To fully understand a martial art you have to work with an experienced instructor. You can learn some martial skills through web sites and videos, but to truly learn a martial art, you have to train with a master.

Other Opinions:

* The only way to teach yourself martial arts is by trial and error. However, in the modern world, that is impossible, since martial arts is not needed in everyday life for self defense. The original martial arts took generations to develop. In the 21st century, you have to study with a master. Web sites and videos can augment your knowledge, but you cant learn it without a master. If you do not have any masters where you live, I suggest looking at becomeultimate.com . They have a distance karate course through DVDs, webcams, and email, and you can test for belts and everything. It is not the same as having a master observe you directly, but it is a good substitute.

Many dojos in the U.S. offer what they call "combat jujutsu." However, there is only one dojo in the US that is contracted with the U.S. Government to train students at the National Defense University (NDU), and its located in Washington, D.C. The school is Jigo Tensin Ryu Jujutsu. I am a student at NDU and know many people who have gone through the 10 month course.

You could probably use Skype with a teacher, or look up a YouTube video of a lesson.

Do you have to do any other form of martial arts before jujitsu?

No, jujitsu is a form of martial arts and the only training you'd have to do is if you wanted to get higher up in your martial arts status for jujitsu.Answer:Depending on the order you learn martial arts in you may pick up "bad habits" that the new style will have to eradicate before you can properly learn the new skills. As a consequence, as an example, the locks you learn in aikido will have to be unlearned or at least suppressed in jujitsu. Do not think that your new teacher will be impressed with how well you've learned to do things wrong.
