There were many famous chariot racers and they all had their fans, but probably the most famous was a man called Diocles, who was honored on a monument in Rome that was erected by his fellow charioteers and fans upon his retirement. He raced for 24 years and earned 35,863,120 sesterces in prize money over all. That amount alone would have made him famous.

Technically, there is no god or goddess of Chariot Racing. On the other hand, AThena, goddess of crafts, wisdom and battle strategy, invented the chariot with help fro Poseidon, god of the seas, who invented horses. Without horses, chariots would be utterly useless.
