They're both very good exercises for strengthening your thighs. However, jogging can take its toll on your knees and back over time if you're not careful. I'd suggest you choose the activity in which you're most interested or mix it up to work different muscle groups. The important thing is to find a routine that's interesting and satisfying enough to continue.

Yes, running along with any type of exercises will tone out your body.

Walking is the best exercise, walking at a rapid pace with your arms swinging at the side is supposed to be the best form or exercise and it supposed to tone out your whole body.
