What are you talking about? Rope climbing, some form of swimming exercise. There were a number of more or less science-fiction radio dramas made during the war that got into rather tedious descriptions of ( hand over hand) rope clilmbing, descents, that sort of thing, it just slowed up the action- unlike using technical devices. It could refer to rope climbing or descent, or swimming, both of which seem to describe-and require, a hand-over-hand motion- indeed one has an overhand stroke in swimming. Your question is somewhat vague -could even refer to (Body Language) what I would describe as (Going with the hands, or talking with the hands- that doesn"t translate well to radio, but this tedious borderling infantry tactics stuff- did.
