Kentucky is famous for racehorses because, since about 1874 and excluding only a few war years, the Kentucky Derby has been held at Churchill Downs. If you didn't know, this years winner is Mine That Bird. Anyways, this is the LONGEST going American race. That's why.

County, KY had to write letters to the governor/senator about what laws they thought should be passed. Leah Holmes and Lauren Willdeboer

Well it's famous for several reasons. The Kentucky Bluegrass is rich in nutrients. The open, rolling hills are great for horses to run on, and the number of available racetracks. That's why so many people started breeding and training farms there.
