It is also a long tradition in American football that it is played in "the elements". Snow, ice, fog, torrential rain - do not stop football games unless it hinders the ability for the game to be accurately called such as the case with foggy games, or if there is significant risk to players and fans such as a severe thunderstorm or hail.
