At first, the NFL was called the American Professional Football Association but the name was changed after two years to National Football League. There was no real reason behind the name change.

Only the calls that involve non-judgment can be challenged. Usually, the only non-call plays that can be challenged are the penalties that involve too many players on the field since it is able to be seen on the replay.

There are 5 main groups for NFL coaches. 1. Head Coach- Essentially, runs the team. Makes all significant decisions, including but not limited to draft picks, trades, free agents, player contracts, day-to-day practice, depth charts, in-game substitutions, general scheme. Has sub-coaches to aid him in most decisions. 2. Assistant Head Coach- Consider him the team's vice-president. Has no official duties, except those assigned to him by the head coach. 3. Offensive Coordinator- Develops offense strategy, plays, and players themselves. 4. Defensive Coordinator- Develops defense strategy, plays, and players themselves. 5. Special Teams Coach- Assigned to work with kickoff/4th down strategy, including punting, kicking, long-snapping, returning, and blocking.
